A finely crafted Tibetan Buddhist ritual conch trumpet (Dung-Dkar), fashioned from a natural conch shell and richly mounted in repoussé silver. The shell is decorated with individually applied silver plaques depicting auspicious Buddhist motifs, protective masks, snow lions, deer, and scrolling foliate ornament, accented throughout with cabochons of turquoise and red coral. Ritual conch trumpets served an important role in Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies, where they were sounded to announce prayers and accompany religious rituals. The hand-worked silver mounts and honest patina reflect traditional Himalayan craftsmanship and long devotional use.
Provenance: Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
Condition: Overall good antique condition with expected age-related wear, natural shell discoloration, scattered wear to the silver mounts, and minor separations consistent with hand-fabricated construction. No significant losses observed.
